This album is reminiscent of Scuba's earlier full length releases - namely, A Mutual Antipathy and Triangulation. Dark textures and rich undertones are back and a welcome change from his earlier full-length offering, Personality. Claustrophobia is an excellent listen.

This was the first time I have listened to an album by Scuba, and I must say it's impressive. It's too bad nobody pays attention to electronica like this. I mean, David Guetta? Really? Sheesh.

It's almost a back to basics approach.

Instead of trying something new, he focuses on what he's good at, which makes Claustrophobia a lateral move rather than a step forward. It seems Rose is trying to recapture the brilliance of his peak-period work. In Claustrophobia's best moments, he does.

It's not the spartan techno of the early SCB records by any means, but the never-quite-convincing progressive window dressing has mostly been thankfully thrown out said window in favour of an approach that maintains big room impact without pandering to its more simplistic tropes.
