It’s their use of modern electronica (‘Unmade’) and metalcore crunch (‘Paper Thin’) that asserts this as bleeding-edge relevant, and there’s enough spark here to suggest they could turn into more than a nostalgia trip.

Dangerkids mix modern elements of electronica and metalcore into rap-rock, which at first seems a bit disjointed and weird, but soon settles into a comfortable roar that hits all the sweet spots in the metal/hardcore/emo realm.

While rap-rock is a sound that's prone to disaster, the band has the confidence to make it work, finding just the right blend of angst and swagger to pull the whole thing off.

This is basically the sound of 2003 with the addition of up-to-date electronics. There’s nothing you won’t have heard before, which is a big part of the problem with Collapse.

This debut from Dangerkids is ambitious only in the fact that there is so much wrong with this record.
