Come to Life is aptly titled when it comes to Aviv's talents, and even if he didn't invent cloud rap, using the genre for such positive and poignant music is previously unexplored territory.

An inspiring “is this even rap anymore?” record.

The Internet is a big place, but Cities Aviv is here to highlight all the best parts, and in doing so he’s carved out a niche that no one fits as well as he does.

Come to Life shows Cities Aviv putting post-punk, Oneontrix Point Never-like samples (“Realms”), and even a little bit of rap into one holistically new blend.

Come to Life feels fragmentary in places, still more mixtape than debut album. It can be amazingly disorienting.

Come To Life is a continuation of the captivating style he brought to the fore with Digital Lows; it’s motivational, sure, but it’s also thought-provoking and catchy as hell.

Magical and mystical cloud rap to be found here with some chopped and screwed beats. The flows and vocals are pretty decent. But the lyrics are pretty mediocre and unengaging. But the vibe and tone are at least consistent. Overall, not bad, but nothing like anywhere near the type of rap it proclaims to be. Expand
