CrasH Talk is the first blemish on Q's discography. Such a shame after waiting 3 years since his last project, Blank Face LP, which was absolutely fantastic. This album, although taking 3 years, somehow has feeling that it was rushed. It has some great songs (Tales, Numb Numb Juice, 5200) that feel album worthy, but the rest of the album feels hollow and contains filler tracks. The production is rather poor and very tame for a ScHoolboy project, and although this may be his best written album, the sonic quality does not match up with his lyrics. Expand

I found this to be average in almost every sense. It was mostly forgettable. I don't even remember enough of it to think of any pros or cons. It's just an average album.

CrasH Talk sounds strangely dated and is a disappointingly safe effort from Q following Blank Face.

FAV TRACKS: TALES, 5200, FLOATING, DIE WITH EM, WATER

    LEAST FAV TRACK: CHOPSTIX

Very disappointing. Lazy songwriting. Weak flows. Unmemorable beats. TOO SHORT. The brevity of the songs is something that does not benefit Q like some of the newer rappers and is definitely the weakest part of the album. There is also rarely a moment where Q uses his aggressive flows that everyone has come to love. Numb Numb Juice set the standard high with being a fantastic single but IVery disappointing. Numb Numb Juice set the standard high with being a fantastic single but I instantly felt worried when he released Chopstix( God awful) and my worries unfortunately came true. Not terrible, but so unmemorable that I have to give it a bad score. Hopefully Isaiah Rashad can redeem the TDE slump. Expand

This was an ok album for Q. It has some bangers like Q usually does, but it also has some other stuff on it that kinda diverges away such as Drunk or Dangerous. Q on some tracks though, sound like he doesn't even want to be in the studio. Best tracks are Tales; Attention; Numb Numb Juice; 5200; and CrasH.

Perhaps the problem is linked to the poor quality of the beats, which sound monotonous in most of the cases: songs such as Floating give really good initial impressions, but the lack of a climax in the beat kind of subtract energy to the song, making it result quite boring, or disappointing. Something similar happens to Attention, a song which provides a very good lyrical component but doesn't last as long as you might expect or want, and quite ends abruptly and awkwardly Expand

ScHoolboy Q is back at it again with his incredible lyricism and production. Emphasis on the "again." This whole album, while far from bad, just feel svery boring and safe. Nothing experimental happened here, just a lot of the same stuff we've come to expect. Which is why I am letting the listener interpret this as a praise or a criticism because this could've been exactly what you wantedScHoolboy Q is back at it again with his incredible lyricism and production. Personally, while writing this I went to put down that it had an hour long runtime and when I went to check, it was only 40! So maybe I'm misremembering or maybe it was just that much of a slog .I went into this neutral and came out slightly better off than I was.

There are without doubt a few tracks on this album that could make it to your favorite ScHoolboy playlist but said “few” don’t outweigh the remaining dozen that fall flat on their blank face.
  2. The album’s slower tempo won’t be for everyone: if you’re all thrills, no substance, then maybe this album is not for you. But you have to respect ScHoolboy Q’s dedication to showing us a different outlook on life, and exploring many emotions. Introspective--yes, but these are songs for the summer.

At 40 minutes, this is easily Q's leanest LP. It would be meaner with the removal of the inane Travis Scott collaboration "CHopstix," the uncharacteristic single.
