Now some small parts seem right scattered here and there One smiling face in a crowd that's angry and scared Can't seem to see where it doesn't get... See the rest of the song lyrics

A hauntingly quiet triumph, Croz gets under your skin and stays there. [Apr 2014, p.114]

Rather than the '80s rock Oh Yes I Can or the guest-strewn covers of 1993's Thousand Roads, this frequently lovely, folky album instead recalls the ease and space of that debut [1971's If Only I Could Remember My Name]. [Feb 2014, p.73]

Recorded at his son's home studio, David Crosby's first solo studio album in two decades has a pleasingly jazzy feel, the arrangements full of blocky piano chords and big string bass which, with Crosby's much-envied harmonies, create a pleasant fug.

It’s been 20 years since David Crosby’s last solo offering, but Croz finds his fire undimmed, and his freak flag still proudly flying, if slightly tattered.

The laid-back pace and contemplative mood then doesn’t really evolve over the 11 songs, and although Croz doesn’t outstay its welcome, there is a nagging feeling that the slickness of the production and instrumentation don’t play to Crosby’s strengths as a singer or songwriter.

All in all though, a fair return.

Where time truly has no meaning is in the lyrics. [Apr 2014, p.96]

This is certainly a matchhttp://bit.ly/1eB2UPe David Crosby, James Raymond and Marcus Eaton have put together and performed a masterpiece. This is certainly a match for Crosby's excellent debut, If I Could Only Remember My Name, and will be a classic for years to come. I dearly hope Croz doesn't stop here and we get some more music from him for a long time. Expand
