ChrisF.Feb 22, 2009Quality sound and vocals by David Cook. The album needs more personality though, because after half way through the songs begin to sound the same and getting to the end becomes tedious. I cannot speak badly of his talent though, and am looking forward to his future work.

-
MonaM.Feb 22, 2009I love the album- My favorites are BarBaSol, Lie, Permanent, A DailyAntheM, Come Back To Me... I really like all the songs however and look forward to more Cook- And will be seeing him on tour soon.

chelsielFeb 18, 2009This was a great album. His voice is amazing and the lyrics have meaning, plus the congs arent dirty and explicit like a lot of stuff thats out there now.
-
-
LoriWFeb 3, 2009Every song is a gem. Ignore the 1s. We know who they are and why they give this CD a 1 and it won't work. David Cook is here to stay.

-
FranniewJan 21, 2009Chuck Eddy I only half agree with your review. David Cook might be oversenstive and that is more then OK with me.but he definitely is not overblown. With his album almost at Platinum in a little over two months i don't think you really listened to the songs with any intention of liking it. It has something for everyone.

-
ragingbJan 19, 2009every song on this album gives me a raging boner, while david archuletta's album leaves me a little limp

-
UsmanSJan 15, 2009Finally a rockstar whose voice and songs are as genuine as his personality. His husky and powerful singing leaves listeners longing for him more than any of his own idols. He has the ability to sing a dictionary and make it sound great, imagine what he would do with a great number. Expect him to be very very successful with some big hit in the very near future.
-
-
MichaelT.Jan 8, 2009Even better than I expected. What amazes me is how the songs grow on you after only a few listens. A very impressive mainstream debut, and a much-needed new rock vocal talent.

-
FranWJan 2, 2009Best album from an American Idol contestant ever!!
-
-
JohnathonHDec 27, 2008David Cook is an amazing vocalist and decent song writer. His first album seems to be a conflicting blend of the natural musician in him, and the generic expectations of American Idol popdom. Hopefully he picks up a band name to escape the pressure in spotlighting his name. Look for Cook's next album to be a more genuine effort.

-
SueRDec 6, 2008Home run for Mr. Cook. This record has it all from the soft ballad Permanent to the concert friendly rocker Bar-ba-sol. I see numerous singles coming from this album. The only downside is that the hidden track was not included as a main track, but not enough of an issue to lower my rating. Completely enjoyable.
-
-
RobertBDec 6, 2008This album is a new beginning for rock which has been half asleep. This guy is uniquely suited to fill the bill. He is a real artist.

SteveD.Dec 6, 2008It is very rare for me to find an album where I love every song but this is it. It offers a variety of songs from heavier rockers like BarBaSol to slower moving ballads like permanent. And they are all sung with David Cook's powerful voice. He is really able to bring the emotion into his song. I love this album

-
MYAIRKRDCNov 28, 2008David cook's album rocks because it has all types if music, and vocals on it! it has rock, pop, r & b... it has low and quiet songs and loud and fast songs. also david's a great guy. he converses with fans, takes time to sign autographs. he's humbled and knows all of this could go away, but yet he works hard as anything to keep it!
-
-
DonnaKNov 28, 2008David Cook shows his amazing range in his first major label record. The songs vary from the rocking Bar-ba-sol to the sweet ballad "Lie." If this is what he can accomplish in a short period of time, I look forward to his next album. He is a triple threat-writer, musician and massive vocalist.
-
-
KellyBNov 28, 2008I don't think there's one song on this cd that I don't like. If I had to choose my favs, they would be Bar-ba-sol, Lie, Declaration, Light On, and Permanent, but I really love the whole cd - it rocks!!
-

-
YvonneDNov 28, 2008David Cook's debut cd shows different sides of his amazing talent...from some mainstream to rocking to a beautiful personal balland with an orchestra. He is a very intriguing, versatile artist and I believe the best is yet to come...

ChefCNov 26, 2008Amazing. Monster hit predictions: Bar-Ba-Sol, Kiss on the Neck (hidden track), Declaration, Heroes, Lie, and Come Back to Me. Avalanche could sneak in there too. LIght On is already climbing the charts; the video is a piece of art. A Daily Anthem wll become the trademark sing-along at his concerts; great great closing track..
-
-
NoelleSalmonNov 26, 2008I love every song on it! Was hoping for a little mare variance in the sounds. Can't wait for the band to tour.

MegWNov 26, 2008So amazing that he was able to write on this and put it together so quickly. Love his vocals, love the melodic, anthemic songs. Permanent will be legendary. Favorites are Declaration, Life on the Moon, Come Back to Me, Avalanche, Permanent, Barbasol, and Kiss On The Neck. The entire record is wonderful and unique.
-
-
JanRNov 26, 2008Extremely solid first effort. 2 or 3 songs hit it out of the ballpark - vocally excellent - IMO the weakest songs were co-written by Raine Maida
-
-
ChiquiNov 26, 2008This record's artist and songs effortlessly transport listener from one intense crest of emotion to another - exhilaration, triumph, wistfulness, melancholia, nostalgia, regret, longing, and even mischief and an attitude. The vocals are excellent and the band is superb. Very well put-together record considering the short period the production was accomplished.

HindasNov 25, 2008I'm addicted to David Cook, the record. Avalanche goes right through m every time. I get chills. I Did It For You literally lifts me out of my seat. I must move to that one. Heroes makes me sing out loud. Permanent leaves me weak. A Daily Anthem is a hopeful renewal. There's more to say, but I'll stop here.

SheriCNov 25, 2008I am always looking for singers/songwriters that use their talent to tell stories. This album is chock full of great melodies and Mr. Cook's voice draws you into the story of each song. I was impressed; have listened to the album multiple times; and still enjoy every song. I think any lover of music will enjoy it, too. Kudos!

-
WandaHNov 25, 2008I haven't been able to stop listening to this album for the past week. A bit over-produced if you're used to his original music, but the lyrics and melodies are there and I can't stop singing along with them. (I do have to chuckle at all of the low scores - must be Archie fans!)
-
-
LouANov 25, 2008Tremendous, this album says this is who I am. I am David Cook, love me - hate me- but don't ignore me. Every song is good. Cook is eclectic and so is his album.
-
-
GeneENov 25, 2008Great album. Cook did a nice job, not too hard, not too soft.
-
-
TamiHNov 25, 2008Wonderful, love his range of vocals and Permanent is so awesome.
-
-
CyndieENov 25, 2008What an addition to the music world this album is. It is written from the heart and the lyrics really let you "feel" the emotion in David Cook's voice. His voice is so very diverse in it's range, some times raspy some time mellow a joy to listen to him sing. The music is melodious with a lot of Davids' signature on it. Love it!!
-
-
David Cook [is] remarkably similar to the debut of his AmIdol forefather, DAUGHTRY, but where Chris Daughtry wallows in his stylized amorphous angst, Cook is a friendly puppy dog, eager to please.
-
Much like his predecessors' quick-turnaround debuts, Cook's is fairly generic, but its rock edge is dirtied up with crunching guitars and the artist's tuneful growl.
-
Indeed, it's hard to distinguish Cook's sound from that of his own idols, like Our Lady Peace and Better Than Ezra.
