[A] startling debut... As his tremulous whisper of a voice travels over deftly plucked, quietly rippling guitar lines, it feels like trespassing on a very small space, filled with enormous private sorrows.

Packed with songs of delicious but unsettling despair. [Apr 2012, p.98]

'Dear' has a refreshing simplicity and endearing vulnerability that will gatecrash your soul and render your skip button impervious.

Keaton Henson isn't a show off, but with talent like this, he has every right to be.

The overall vibe of Dear... is a strangely baroque take on loss and self pity.
  6. Both gently gripping and strangely sinister.

The good news is [single "You Don't Know How Lucky You Are"] is not even the best song on his debut album. [Mar 2012, p.89]

I discovered Keaton Henson through Zane Lowe, and instantly fell in love with 'You Don't Know How Lucky You Are'. With similar stage fright present in Keaton, the trembling, soft singing struck a chord with me. He is a man bursting with sadness and emotions you can't even begin to describe (not everyone's cup of tea), but the singer-songwriter is not one to boast. Humble in every sense of the word. The album is hauntingly beautiful to say the least. Expand
