Deer Tick could have done a lot with their plethora of strong songs: made painful cuts to release a regular album, or shoehorned an overarching narrative in and called it a concept album. But the simplest solution was the correct one. They just put out two good records on the same day, inviting but not forcing listeners to associate them.

Too bad E Diddy Shrimp again does not acknowledge bands like this. He is still trapped in a 80's hair band time machine. This album #2 theToo bad E Diddy Shrimp again does not acknowledge bands like this. He is still trapped in a 80's hair band time machine. This album #2 the rocking one, are some of the best songs they have ever written. Don't Hurt and Jumpstarting are great songs very good sonically with very catchy hooks. Lyrically you cannot help but sing along. My favorite song off this album is SMF. It is as classic a Deer Tick song as there is in their entire catalogue. It sounds like a Divine Providence track for sure. I for one am happy Deer Tick didn't break up because this album proves for their genre of music they are elite. Not to mention they have a cult like following as well. Full Review »
