Classic Rock MagazineOct 15, 2019A full-on rager, this one. Devour You knows what's up. [Nov 2019, p.82]
-
Q MagazineOct 10, 2019Starcrawler might be known as a great live band, with de Wilde spitting, screaming and high-kicking her way through their confrontational gigs, but with Devour You prove they're every bit as impressive on record too. [Nov 2019, p.116]

Oct 10, 2019It’s clear that they’re at their best when they’re drawing from the college rock/grunge well, and disappointing that they feel they have to include 36,000 different rock styles to be taken seriously.
-
Oct 10, 2019It’s all hips, handclaps and riffs, lots and lots of riffs. It isn’t perfect, but you’d be hard pressed to find a record as fun as Devour You.

Oct 14, 2019There's nothing necessarily at fault about borrowing so heavily from the past — these sounds are, after all, classic for a reason and it's true that Starcrawler conjure them expertly and deftly. The most memorable moments of the record, though, are those when Starcrawler distinguish their work from the giants before them, sketching out instead their own growing sense of self.
-
Oct 10, 2019Songs like opener "Lizzy" and "You Dig Yours" bristle with a subversive energy anyone that's witnessed Starcrawler in the flesh will immediately identify with. Elsewhere, "Hollywood Ending" and "Rich Taste" show de Wilde and her band in a more poignant light, taking their cues from Hole circa Celebrity Skin.
-
Oct 11, 2019Starcrawler seem less like they want to lead you astray and more like they're acting out in hopes of getting their parents' attention, which isn't always good for these songs. But the music on Devour You is just raw and sweaty enough to conjure up some forgotten after-school special about falling in with the wrong crowd, and if that isn't hitting a bull's-eye for them, it's at least somewhere on the target.
