  • Summary: L(ucky) Pierre is the alter-ego of former Arab Strap member Aidan Moffat, and the cinematic, instrumental 'Dip' was recorded shortly before that band's breakup.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 6 out of 12
  2. Negative: 0 out of 12
  1. As lush and expansive as his former work was taut and aggro - only the quality remains.
  2. Moffat knows how to conduct, contort and concoct fountains of melancholia.
  3. So, an unexpected turn from our commentator on urban squalor with this dreamlike, abstract paean to Mother Nature and the great outdoors.
  4. For all the beauty, there's a certain unsettling, transient aspect to the calm.
  5. Q Magazine

Not song-based, the album relies on mood... making its impact in a similar, slightly less accomplished manner to Brian Eno's early ambient experiments. [Feb 2007, p.102]
  6. There are building blocks for something fantastic in most of these pieces, but only in two of them have they been used to make more than the sum of their parts.
  7. A totally hit and miss affair, with only two of the five songs clicking.
