Nov 5, 2020Hitting the same highs as her triumphant 2000s stretch -- namely Light Years, Fever, X, and Aphrodite -- this glittery, feel-good set is nothing short of euphoric, a dozen near-perfect gems that pay respect to the album's namesake era while updating the production with thrilling results

Nov 9, 2020While there’s nothing here as instantly memorable as Can’t Get You Out of My Head or All the Lovers, Disco benefits from a consistent sonic palette, and one that nestles neatly inside the Kylie comfort zone. Free of the pressure of big singles in a streaming era that often sidelines “heritage” acts, the album also feels relatively filler-free.
-
Nov 6, 2020You can’t say it doesn’t deliver exactly what it promises. While Minogue has rarely ventured too far from her dance-pop comfort zone, “Disco” displays a particularly glorious single-mindedness, exploring the genre’s past, present and future with nary a ballad or a twangy guitar lick in sight. Minogue’s most consistent and cohesive album since her oughts-era heyday.
-
Nov 6, 2020Minogue more than holds her own here. The sound is largely fresh and pays genuine homage to carefree nights at the disco with gusto, charm and flair, all qualities that Minogue has in spades.
-
Nov 5, 2020As an ode to the pleasures of the dancefloor, Kylie has delivered her most unashamedly fun record in almost a decade.
-
Nov 5, 2020The result is a consistently uplifting set that feels like Minogue’s best album since 2010’s ‘Aphrodite’.
-
Nov 5, 2020There's nothing wildly inventive about her modern take on the vintage vibe. But it’s nonstop fun.
-
Nov 6, 2020Ultimately, even without the presence of deeper lyrics, Disco feels distinctly personal for Minogue, having built a career based on the influences of artists like Donna Summer.
-
Nov 6, 2020While the album might be a purely derivative work, its period arrangements—all sweeping disco strings, Nile Rodgers-esque guitar licks, and indiscriminately deployed cowbell—are executed with aplomb.
-
Rolling StoneNov 5, 2020Classic disco euphoria as only Kylie knows how to do it. [Nov 2020, p.70]
-
Nov 5, 2020If ‘DISCO’ might not be the most progressive or groundbreaking album of the year, it’s certainly up there as one of the most charming.
-
Nov 10, 2020Repeated listens, indeed, prove it to be a perfectly serviceable, enjoyable offering. But there’s always that nagging feeling, once the DJ has packed up the gear and the dancefloor empties, that there could have been something more.
