While DRIFT’s production values remain solid, a few tracks would have needed more time to be fleshed out. ... Even then, you can trust Underworld to play to their strengths. ... By taking all these ideas and running with them, Underworld has rushed in where most artists fear to tread.

Every track on the album is there on merit as fully formed pieces with developed hooks and melodies rather than failed experiments or abandoned jams. The result is a stunning artistic statement from musicians, not only deeply immersed in the creative process but also liberated by the mad challenge they initially set themselves just over a year ago.

To even summarise each moment of Drift is a challenge. What I can say is the elements of surprise and familiarity work together to form a deep, dark and wonderful hole, unmanageable by its very nature, and beautifully chaotic. The essential ingredients of Underworld are all there.

Underworld remain progenitors and continue to excel at electronica embedded with a human heart—no matter how robotic the vocals, they conjure emotional states, even away from the dance floor. And here continue to carve out new heights in the ever-evolving digital shimmer.

Profligate, self-indulgent and, against all oddly, hugely satisfying. ... [The single-disc] Sampler Edition is a handy 58-minute entry point to the mad endeavour. [Dec 2019, p.90]

    A mind-bogglingly diverse four-hour-plus odyssey. ... A stand-alone single-disc sampler featuring 10 DRIFT highlights ranks as Underworld's finest long-player since 1999's Beaucoup Fish. [Dec 2019, p.114]

Impressively inventive and diverse material. [Dec 2019, p.35]

The endeavour has clearly proved liberating, and prompted a renewed sense of creativity.

This is gigantum work and must be respected. After series of disappointing albums (Oblivion with bells, Barking, even A Hundred Days Off) andThis is gigantum work and must be respected. After series of disappointing albums (Oblivion with bells, Barking, even A Hundred Days Off) and satisfying Barbara, Barbara, We Face a Shining Future they made 360° turn and make some of the best work since Beacoup Fish. They regain their form and strenght. Naturally, 6 LP's (cca 6 hours of music) have fillers (but they are in minority and don't effect the quality overall). It's usual blend of acid techno, dub, progressive house, trance, ambient with Karl Hyde in his standard form.Lot of tracks standout and I only wish that Drift Series 1 isn't their swan song.
