Marina's lyrics and the whole Electra Heart concept are pretty good in this album. The lyrics are sad yet catchy. The only issue is the production. The music and her very pop tunes sound so different from what she did before and Froot. It seems too polished, too fake and really not her. Though the record company made good decisions based on money and profit, that affected the album quality a lot.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A modern classic. Electra Heart helps popularise 4th wave feminism by exploring gender identity and subverting the role of women in society. Classic melodies, slick production and a visual journey.

Such a masterpiece, from the concept to the execution. Marina really counted a deep story al along of the album, love how she take the archetypes of a non-typical woman.

Diamandis is trying to expose the artifice of big-box pop music by using its own voice, and despite the obvious trappings of the concept, she does a fairly respectable job.

Marina Diamandis rivals Katy Perry for catchy hooks, commands with the swagger of Gwen Stefani, and even comes close to the ethereal vocal exhilaration of Florence Welch.

Electra Heart sounds high on concept, low on songs. [Jun 2012, p.108]
