I like Folklore so much I can listen to it all days and repeat it everyday. But this album feels off. I like her poetry. But Folklore is much much better, with its unique concept and beautiful lyrics that rhyme beautifully with the melody. Evermore feels like it's rushed. There are some songs that are good like "Willow", and "Evermore" and only other TWO songs. I mean, the poetry is great, her songwriting is still amazing in this album but the way it's packed in the songs in this album (arrangements especially), hmm I'm sorry but it sounds rushed. Expand

While it's possible that it can be argued that it's completely valid that Taylor Swift has decided to have a sound change on her latest surprise album, that precise change would be laudable if it were at least an effort with different variants.

While it's possible that it can be argued that it's completely valid that Taylor Swift has decided to have a sound change on her latest surprise album, that precise change would be laudable if it were at least an effort with different variants.

But a double album, because that's what the two combined albums are, with more than 2 hours of music and more than 30 songs that can hardly be differentiated between themselves, it does seem incredible that she's given so much credit, and especially the recognition.

But her name weighs too heavily on the mainstream, and that tends to cloud the criteria of the so-called "music critics." It's not that the songs are bad, but that they're completely irrelevant and in many ways they even sound a lot like filler.

Because when you release something that's supposed to be ambitious, the result has to respond to that ambition, and in this case and like its predecessor, there's nothing worthy of the accolades it has received, because I've even read that both albums are considered masterpieces.

True, she had a prolific streak as a songwriter, but does that justify all the material? No, not by far.

To some extent even by its very nature, Evermore despite being considered a complete studio album, it doesn't show any kind of growth on what she did in Folklore, it's just more of the same.

These songs basically feel like songs that maybe she couldn't or didn't want to include in the first album, but there's no sonic or lyrical difference that justifies the effort.

Definitely her fans will always get anything from her without question, and frankly that's not my business or my problem, but definitely for me it's a real disappointment.

Taylor is serving us what we needed during this time with folklore and now evermore. She really stepped up with her 9th studio album as she should, since we're talking about folklore's sister!

As goog as folklore, she deserves it. My favorite songs are as follows, willow, champagne problems, coney island and closure.

It’s ok... I was just insanely bored throughout this entire thing. But then again I’m not really a fan of this kind of music so you can definitely call me biased here. Some good production and songwriting on this thing. It just feels like a second course of the music on Folklore.

It's a good songwriting, a good vocal performance, but have such boring instrumentals that not give the emotional that the lyrics deserves.

This now this is an album. It encapsulates what it is to feel emotions you’ve never even felt youre self. Great artistry and lyricism

It´s impossible to deny Taylor´s amazing writing skills and it´s really the narratives that keep us stuck and interested in her last two albums. Unfortunately, and once again, it´s tiring to listen to a full-lenght project that sounds all so similar.
Top Track: No Body, No Crime
    Worst Track: Closure

Loved this album so much. Gave me mixed feelings but still great! Taylor Swift really outdid herself this year.

E um diferencial em relação no que se via na carreira dela, mas este parece uns descarte do Folklore. Que pra mim e muito bom em comparação a este.

It is without question a wintering record, but out of this muted musical landscape songs of great and complex beauty emerge. [Mar 2021, p.34]

Even though we get a catchy moment of goofy, snarling country midway through, the album is a result of the emotional clarity that a year in quarantine provided. Swift has written about curdling relationships splendidly in the past, but there's a new dimension to her writing that wasn’t there before. Onward.

The pandemic seems to have freed her, given her the space to breathe, and has allowed her to produce her most elegant and sophisticated work to date.
