    Kate is an amazing poet, but she needs to decide what rout she is going down. She got some major kudos and some $ from the UK for her poetry. I saw her in New Orleans and she was pretty cool, but she kicked the clubs sound guy out for her own, and she was a bit amateurish. She is happy to embrace her non-pop aesthetic, but she might need a little grooming.

    It's refreshing to hear sheer poetry being spat over a beat. I have only until recently discovered Kate Tempest, and I can only say that I am impressed with her historical knowledge and modern (yet humbly sophisticated) language and writing. Also, her unique voice, compounded by her vernacular, is nice to listen to. To address the musical side, the album provides a unique sound— not UKIt's refreshing to hear sheer poetry being spat over a beat. I have only until recently discovered Kate Tempest, and I can only say that I am impressed with her historical knowledge and modern (yet humbly sophisticated) language and writing. Also, her unique voice, compounded by her vernacular, is nice to listen to. To address the musical side, the album provides a unique sound— not UK grime; not American rap, but an interesting and inviting mixture between classic hip-hop, slow-paced DnB beats, house synths/FX, and simple storytelling. I highly recommend listening to this album.… Collapse

    Everybody Down may try to tackle too much in its 48-minute run time, but even if the story isn't always coherent, the emotions of the characters shine through.

    Everybody Down is powerful and gritty and it tackles subjects such as sex work and drug deals with wit and subtlety beyond measure. It’s just not as good as it perhaps should have been from such a prolific talent.

    Confounding, yet worthy of recognition, Everybody Down is a sound release, with Tempest possessing potential to be truly great, once the logistics are shored up.
