An absolute joy to behold. Built on the expressions of anxiety and finding a sense of worth in today's full on world. It's full of affirmations throughout, the repetition of affirmations is reassuring and easing such as "I worry bout you" and "And yes, I found my second wind". Affirmations are a key aspect of mindfulness practice and used in CBT, its almost a prescription. Will beAn absolute joy to behold. An album about finding solace in Music. Has given solace to me. So, therefore it’s done it’s job. Nothing technically groundbreaking, but ‘tugs’ at the heartstrings with it's bittersweet songwriting; creating hopefulness, in hopelessness.

Of Bombay Bicycle Club's first 4 albums, it was record number 3, "A Different Kind of Fix" that I liked the most and having recently revisited their back catalogue, this remains the case. I think it is because it's the album where they are making the least amount of effort to tap into a specific scene. "Everything Else Has Gone Wrong" has a similar vibe. It's unmistakably a Bombay Bicycle Club album and is easy to criticise if you don't like the band. If you do like them then it's equally easy to pick out things to enjoy from this collection. It has 3 or 4 really good songs that should find a permanent place in their set list. The rest of the album is enjoyable without being mindblowing and if every album I bought could fit that description I'd take it. The opening 3 tracks along with the lead single "Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You) were the highlights for me but there is plenty more to discover on further listening. Expand

A very entertaining and fun Indie Rock to a certain point. Bombay Bicycle Club has done a very solid album about a simple style of life that definitively has its animated, euphoric and dynamic side. Jack Steadman and John Congleton produce an album with a trajectory that keeps an attractive, sensible and special style in which narrative is well decorated with lyrics about every day.

It’s no surprise that their return doesn’t feel as triumphant as it should have. Instead, this record feels like more of a means to an end, an excuse to get back out on the road and play their biggest hits once again.

This is the sound of an ever-curious, shape-shifting band finally finding the confidence to tell us who they really are. But they are not telling us anything we didn’t already know.

On a set of compact, meaningful songs about surviving in the age of anxiety, the sympathetic weave of the reunited band embodies the very spirit of empathy and togetherness for which Steadman seems to be reaching.
