Her darkest effort yet, a harowing chronicle of a woman barely keeping herself together. It's also her liveliest effort yet--not to mention her most confidently diverse. [Jul 2016, p.71]

Up close and uncompromising, Exodus Of Venus elevates Cook into the top echelon of Nashville's new breed, an all-too-rare female voice among a a largely make elite. [Oct 2016, p.95]

Exodus of Venus is an achievement both redemptive and transformative.

A welcome if particularly edgy comeback that positions the album as Cook’s finest, most riveting and intensely personal work.

Cook’s mostly melancholy music contains rough diamonds whose brilliance needs to be brought out in the cutting.

This in my opinion is the best country album of 2016 so far. The tone is set for the first track and i wouldn't say its unlike anything you ever heard before, rather, it combines elements of rock, pop, and country skillfully and in its best moments, its everything music should be.

Now, that was all about the production, not to say Mrs Cook was not a part of the production--im sure she was--but my only problem with the album is it put too much emphasis on the tone and sound at times it seem and Cook shined and stole the show wgen the productions was on, but she could not save the day with her voice or with the lyrics when it wasn't. This is not to say that in those tracks she was off on both or either accounts, but its more than one could not tell for the tone had been thrown off so much or the sound had been so plain and average that it was hard to focus on the words.

This of course is just picking Something to complain about. Overall, this was as close to a country masterpiece as one could get. She was soulful, ambitious and fresh. The production was skillful, darlings, and reaching for gold. Great great great album
