Forever turned around continues where Withney left us with Light upon the lake. A jazzy folk album with a sensitive apeasing voice. This album is very good.

The lyrics of this album, I feel, write to a place in people's hearts that not many albums go for. The feeling of isolation in a committed relationship. The aching feeling of slowly drifting apart. This album really speaks to me, and sonically it is inebriating. The use of silence so effortlessly just shows the care and thought that went into every song.

There's nothing particularly grating about their gentle, country-pop stylings—most of which deal with themes such as nature, gratitude, and fleeting time. And these are all worthy topics to explore—except that every song sounds so gosh darn wholesome that it's as if they discourage against any deeper introspection.
  2. It’s a slow-burnin’ collection that’s certainly less immediate than their debut, and often feels like a retread instead of a progression. But that doesn’t make songs like ‘Friend of Mine’ and ‘Song For Ty’ any less enjoyable, as Elrich’s and Kazacek’s songwriting bond appears stronger than ever.

If you listen to it too many times you might forget it’s on; it blends into the background easily. But the mood it conjures is surprisingly rich. The album plays out like a gorgeous day at the end of the summer and the bittersweet calm that follows as the weather gets cooler.
