Beautiful music. I think Cut Copy have made a masterpiece and it has been totally unappreciated.

This album is a mellow synth pop fantasy from start to finish. Melodic, reflective and absolutely gorgeous.

"Freeze, Melt" is solid and very balanced. It delves into new realms of Cut Copy sound by moving away from danceable synth-pop as it identifies them and moving closer to middle and down tempo songs. The result is a brilliant, intimate, smooth and crystalline album that show the versatility of Cut Copy.

While initially deterred by the change in direction, I found this album really grew on me and is one of my favorites from Cut Copy now. Excellent forward-motion for a great band who are taking a new path away from the dance-floor.

Freeze, Melt nods to the conceptual artist John Baldessari, whose death at the start of 2020 might have warned us of the waves of bullshit to come. Its own concept is unimpeachable: Climate change does suck. Ice is a memory. Mostly, though, Freeze, Melt just feels like a nice warm bath.

Freeze, Melt is a fitting soundtrack for the landscape pictured on the cover. These are spacious tracks to complement clear blue skies, not lipstick-smudged anthems for strobe-lit mega clubs. Listeners who haven't tuned into Cut Copy since Zonoscape may be surprised by their latest direction, but longtime fans who welcome change from record to record will find something to enjoy out here in the country.

The formula is executed well, while the production and songwriting keep the Australian four-piece ahead of any imitators. ... Yes, new music is good to have and good to experience, but when the tunes become interchangeable that notion starts to feel hollow.
