Fear Factory exude real authority, resulting in their finest album in two decades and a timely reminder that when man and machine collide, the outcome can be both joyous and devastating.

No one is ever going to mistake Genexus for anything other than a Fear Factory release, but the band’s slight alterations have produced a change in sound that is minor in execution, yet significant in scope.

Nine albums in and the band is finally flirting with accessibility, but in true Fear Factory fashion, they're doing it on their own terms and at a very deliberate pace.

If there’s a disappointment about Genexus it’s that it only really delivers to hardened FF fans, that it’s essentially more of the same winning formula.

At first I was actually gona expect a mediocre album and the last felt meh for me. I felt that Mechanize was the closest we were gona get as far as recent albums but this blows it out of the water. I seriously wasn't expecting this, especially when I was starting to lose hope for the band. If you're a FF fan, this has to be in your collection. Great use of tones and nothing felt like trashy/cheesy lyrics from what I'm hearing a lot today. Favorite Songs: Dielectric, Regenerate, Expiration Date Expand

It's Obsolete meets Mechanize, with maybe the few good pieces of The Industrialist. It's a familiar story but more dense with quality! The first track, Autonomous Combat System, sets a solid tone for the album with the craziest and best riffs I've ever heard FF throw out. Synth is back and better than ever. Experimentals hit home. They've hit their perfect balance of heaviness, groove, and energy in this one; it's a must-buy! Expand

Fear Factory's 9th album is easily their best since 'Demanufacture'. While there is nothing what I would call groundbreaking on the album, theFear Factory's 9th album is easily their best since 'Demanufacture'. While there is nothing what I would call groundbreaking on the album, the use of electronica and atmospherics on the album is brought to the forefront of all the songs, which gives them much more depth than previous offerings. Standout tracks are everywhere, but my personal favourites are 'ProtoMech' (think 'Zero Signal' from 'Demanufacture'), 'Genexus' and the quite exceptional album closer 'Expiration Date'. If you are a fan of this band, you will know they always end with an ambient closer to their albums, but this is by far their best they have ever done, complete with classic lines from 'Blade Runner'. It is also worth buying the limited edition, as the two extra tracks are more than worth it. 'Mandatory Sacrifice' (A remix from the Ministry frontman) and another fantastic ambient song 'Enhanced Reality' only add to the already fantastic collection of songs. It is worth noting that the production on this album is exceptional, Andy Sneap as done another fantastic job.

For anyone who has listened to Fear Factory over the last 20 years will appreciate how good they can be, and this album is no exception. It definitely sits with 'Demanufacture' as a fantastic offering, and certainly an album this listener will be enjoying for many years to come. A contender for album of the year, if not the winner already.

    They're BACK !!

The boys from Fear Factory have done it with near perfect execution. Burton and Dino have managed to recreate the spark that was Demaufacture (which was a near constant playlist with me for a LONG time) and it shows.

It's dark, gritty and powerful .. the sort of industrial metal we all know and love from Fear Factory. I would love to give it a perfect 10 but there are a couple of tracks that I personally think are "ok" but it all comes down to personal taste right ?

If you enjoyed Demanufacture, their last album "The Industrialist" then you are not going to be disappointed and you will love this album.

So good to have you back guys .. keep up the awesome work!

I really want to give this record an 8 or a 9 maybe even a golden 10 but I just can't. I like this album I really do. Had the last two recordsI really want to give this record an 8 or a 9 maybe even a golden 10 but I just can't. I like this album I really do. Had the last two records not been absolutely phenomenal this record would have gotten a standing ovation. An easy 9 or 10. But this record fell short of the last two records for me. Some of the lyrics felt extremely cheesy where before they felt empowering. There were times that I wasn't sure if I was listening to a metal motivational poster... (Metalvational poster heh heh) or if I was listening to a substance abuse counselor yell and sing me into feeling I could do something positive with my life.

Musically this album shines. It's really tight and provides some of the better sounding FF source material one could have hoped for. I was very impressed with the production quality and the harmony of the instruments on all accounts. But those cheese ball lyrics really stopped this one from gaining the momentum of the previous two records for me. I hope Bell changes this on future releases.
