This album is great, my favorite songs are You are my Number One, Fun, New Planet, and Looking For A Wall, but all the songs are good. Looking foward to their next album!

I have all of their cd's and I must say this is right up there with fush yu mang. All the songs are great, with a few exeptions. This cd has a few of smash mouth's best songs of all time. My two favorite songs are "Hang On", which is more of a rock song, and "Seventh Grade Dance" which really isn't about a Seventh Grade Dance. The only songs I don't think are great are I have all of their cd's and I must say this is right up there with fush yu mang. All the songs are great, with a few exeptions. The only songs I don't think are great are the really poppy ones. "Whole Lotta Love" is just ok, and the worst song on the cd is their first release, "You Are My Number One." It didn't do that well, to nobodys suprise. I just don't think it is smash mouth's style, it's written by Neil Diamond after all. But I still give give this cd a 10 just because it has so many goods songs on it. Besides the two I mentioned, "Hot", "105", "Lost in Space", "Looking for a Wall", and even the more poppier "Fun" are all great songs. I really wish smash mouth would make more rockish songs like this on their next cd and lay off a little on the really poppy stuff. Collapse

Most of the critics of Metacritic are snob and old. Please give them something to smoke for them to continue being objective and serious on the matter.

I read some pretty negative review of this CD and it makes me wonder -- what the critics are looking for?? I am a musician and fan -- and not a pre-teen (40 actually). I find this music most pleasing and the "fomulaic" approach employed by Greg Camp totally appropriate for the genre. THIS IS FUN MUSIC!! It's not going to wow intellectuals and music snobs, but it gets under your skin I read some pretty negative review of this CD and it makes me wonder -- what the critics are looking for?? It's not going to wow intellectuals and music snobs, but it gets under your skin and each song is tight and comes with a nice hook. I got a chance to watch the band last year, it was a marvel to watch Greg Camp work his guitar -- he is a consumate musician. Thankfully there are enough people that enjoy their simple, good-times groove. I hope they keep producing their stuff, because I will keep buying it and sharing it with others! Expand

Some people criticize Smash Mouth for lacking substance and not progressing musically from one album to another. Perhaps they are right. However, the band doesn't attempt to save the world nor be trend-setters. The music is fun and "Get the Picture?" is actually one of their best cds.

  1. Harwell may be the only rocker to sing worse than Ja Rule, but no matter -- his mates are experts in the art of the good-timey throwaway.

They're so straightforward, you can forget how crafty, even sly, Smash Mouth can get. [Sep 2003, p.129]
  3. Perhaps the formula is wearing just a tad thin. Nevertheless, it's always foolish not to celebrate melody.
