  • Summary: This fourth album marks the Barsuk debut for the eclectic Portland, Ore. husband-and-wife duo of Kevin and Anita Robinson.

  1. This is an organic, homegrown creation that sounds as though it's had a lot of time and love invested in it; lend an inquisitive ear and find yourself instantly besotted.
  2. Viva Voce have always been musically intriguing and continue their winning streak with a diverse suite of songs that come together as a cohesive whole.
  3. Get Yr Blood Sucked Out is confident, psychedelic, hard-hitting, and the best noise they've made yet.
  4. It feels way huger than the work of two people, with dense, textured songs that sound like a remarkable collision between two distinct personalities.
  5. This is stoner rock for the indie set, so every suggestion of Led Zeppelin or Queen gets filtered through a Sonic Youth or Yo La Tengo aesthetic, which helps keep the bombast and pagan iconography at bay.

An album that, by turns, is lacerating and seductive. [Sep 2006, p.106]
  7. The members of Viva Voce accomplish a catchy cohesiveness that's at its best when they allow their songs to stray.
