Two years later, the trio return with Gimme Some, a punk record that transmogrified itself into a pop-rock effort fueled by many drunken nights.

Peter Bjorn and John's sixth disc is pretty mannish, a foray into Seventies English punk rock, early U2 and R.E.M. anthemics, arena-drum bombast and a cowbell-happy jam their fan Kanye West could flow over.

On Gimme Some, Peter Bjorn and John abandon the experimental sound they'd been developing over the course of the last few years in favor of flavorless alt-rock that falls short of the bar set by Falling Out.

Even at its most jagged, however, Gimme Some comes across as power-pop by numbers, the effortlessness with which the Swedish trio spin cheerful melodies and ineffable hooks making almost every song sound uncomfortably derivative.

It's also very varied, with everything from slower rockers like ''Down Like Me'' to the in-your-face punk-rock of ''Breaker Breaker''. I defenatly recommend it. Full Review »
