This isn't the first time composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have made music for David Fincher's mysterious odd and well crafted films, in Gone girl the suspense and the music makes film edgy, clever and well played also dysfunctional.

This music made the film, basically. Of course, what matters for this physical release is that, like all the best soundtracks, these songs works as an album, independently of Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike's martial kerfuffle. [22 Nov 2014, p.52]

The fragile piano melody of 'Just Like You' stands out, but this 90-minute piece is best digested whole, as another accomplished Reznor film score.

These complicated combinations of sounds and feelings suggest that Reznor and Ross are nearly as skilled at emotional manipulation as the film's characters, and Gone Girl's ambiguity and dread make it their most haunting work yet.
