HTE es un gran álbum, con estética y concepto, su estilo para cantar la hace única e inigualable. Sin duda alguna una fuerte contrincante a álbum del año en los grammys, excelente trabajo Billie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Happier Than Ever is an intimate moment between Billie Eilish and the listener, as she pours her heart and soul into a lot of these tracks. The whole project seamlessly flows from one song to the other, with themes dealing with lust, fame, and femininity. Billie's sweet and tender vocals really exemplifies these themes even further, as the best songs on this project really take advantage of her strengths. Although some tracks felt a bit bland, the hits on this projects really stand out. The structure of this album is really good, as it has a solid intro of Billie's coming-of-age, Not My Responsibility as a nice spoken-word interlude that really expresses the sentiments shown throughout the project, and the title track leading into Male Fantasy is a nice closing duo of tracks because of its feeling of finality. My main problem with this album is that some songs feel sort of unnecessary and the project could have been more succinct. Overall, a really sassy and emotional listen that takes you on a diverse sonic journey. Props to FINNEAS with the production as well, one of my favorite producers.

A stronger experience perhaps still waits to be found within "Happier Than Ever" by excising a handful of lesser songs and dialing back its insistence on its own cloying precociousness, but Eilish's muted, whisper-thin vocals nevertheless prove a good match for the low-key, jazzy production and make for an overall pleasant listen, albeit one that's far more forgettable than it ought to be.

"Getting Older" is not a good album opener, it's a nice song with quite cool instuments in the back - but the fact it's placed as album's first track is hurting it. "I Didn't Change My Number" is more powerful, even though Eilish is a little reserved here, she shows of her domination here - I like it. "Billie Bossa Nova" has a really nice lateback vibe. "my future" is really cool. It picks up later to be more upbeat. Shame it took me so long to vibe to it. "Oxytocin" is really great! The beat, the lyrics, the delivery - perfect! It represents tracks that I love from Billie - upbeat ones, yet with really cool (mostly relatable) lyrics. Production is perfect here too, intro sounds kinda likes something took on mid-to-late 2000s. And Billie provides sucha cool vocals during post-chorus, I never heard her like that. "GOLDWING" can be really weird for first few listens, but you just can't deny - it's so easy to get lost in that "down-down-down" hook. "Lost Cause" is pretty amazing in its latebackness. I love those lyrics, I love singing along them!
"Halley's Comet" is another slow song on the album, so not really my type. With it's auto-tune processed outro it reminds me of Madonna's "Dark Ballet", but the normal part of the song isn't that good. It's intro also kinda gives me Minecraft vibes, but song is passable the most. "Not My Responsibility" is a great video with a nice tune to back it up and nice message accross, but as an album track it doesn't have any replay value since it's spoken word. That's why I'm glad it connects with the next track - "OverHeated" - which has a kick, and use similar beat to its predecessor, but with more punch. The vibe of this song is haunting by Billie's vocals and matching beat and production. The chorus might be simple but it's okay. Billie's delivery anyway is perfect on this track, she speeds up in one point of the song, while previosly stopping to laugh. "Everybody Dies" is another slower track, but it's opening line "Everybody dies / Suprise, suprise" made me laugh really hard - so it passes.
The next three song were released as album's singles, and that's great. "Your Power" is a late-back guitar-backed ballad, which as Billie said, reflects album the most - and I agree, not only because we share synesthesia (yes, this song and album gives me tang brown vibes), but also musically - it's late-back, but still kinda powerful. Simply perfect middle ground. "NDA" is the most Billie Eilish song that I've heard. It contains every element that made Billie famous and beloved. Alt-pop vibe, late-back vocal delivery, great beat with nice occasional synth melodies playing as post-chorus, and explosive, auto-tuned driven outro. Lyrically, I guess, it's the most diverse song on album - going from relationships to break-ups to stalkers, and simply fame and money. It also is connected with "Therefore I Am" - another great song. Really punchy beat with the right vocal delivery. And as always Billie uses auto-tune right, showcased by the last chorus of the song, where the change was needed - and she did it right!
The title track took me a lot of time to click. Since the begining I loved its rock part, but that late-back part wasn't clicking at first. But now, when rock-only edit was released, I can't imagine this song without that intro - it feels incomplete. An album closer - "Male Fantasy" - I was anticipating to hear this track the most with "Billie Bossa Nova", but I got dissapointed again with slow pace and the beat and delivery that doesn't suit song's lyrical content.
Simply, for many people it can take some time to get most of this record - to appriciate it. But still I hold "Oxytocin", "OverHeated", "NDA", and "Therefore I Am" as my most favorite tracks.

This album represents a change for the duo Billie and Finneas. The opening track, Getting Older, symbolizes this metamorphosis, with lyrics where Billie reflects on her career and her personal life. The opening track, Getting Older, symbolizes this metamorphosis, with lyrics where Billie reflects on her career and her personal life. Here, she clarifies that the focus of this album will not be metaphors, like the ones from her debut, but the struggles of her personal life. However, the highlight of the album goes to FINNEAS, which shows why he's considered one of the greatest producers of his generation, on tracks such as I Didn't Change My Number and Oxytocin, in addition to the fantastic and mesmerizing chord progression in the opening track, Getting Older.
In Halley's Comet, Billie shows how inexperienced and vulnerable to love she truly is, in a heartbreaking ballad about making music and a long-distance relationship. "I'm sitting in my brother's room, haven't slept in a week or two, I think I might have fallen in love, what am I to do?". In my future, the best song of the album, she talks about self-love in a melody that mixes bossa, jazz and her traditional anti-pop: which is another brilliant decision: to gather a long range of genres to this project, which shows just how much the duo could really make anything they wanted to: like brazilian Bossa Nova and even Rock music.
The album's weaknesses are the singles, uninteresting tracks that recycle the formula of its first album or are simply tiresome and out of place in the narrative that the album tries to build, as with Lost Cause. After a somewhat disastrous sequel that culminates in the great 'Therefore I Am' and the title track, Billie ends the album with the bland ballad Male Fantasy, which seems to ignore the massive shift as an artist that occurs midway through the title-track Happier Than Ever: where she screams her voice out with powerful and distorted guitars.

It is normal that this genre does not show an evolution due to its own nature, and what Billie does is try to get out of that nature that can stagnate her to the genre. It's a good try but falls short in places. However in others she shines as only she can shine. A good album anyway.

It was no doubt that Billie Eilish was trying to expand her musical sounds by testing out some musical genres that were not heard from her songs before. She incorporates R&B sounds with Getting Older and my future, and country sounds with the title track and Male Fantasy. Despite taking her sounds into a new level, we can’t deny that her former electropop sounds were still in the album, as evident with I Didn’t Change my Number, Oxytocin, and Therefore I Am. But her album weren’t as happier than her debut album, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO”. This album was a great evolution for Eilish’s lyrical writing skills but was very messy at first glance. She combined acoustic folk songs with electronically driven pop sounds which is not really pleasing to hear as the album progresses. Her playfulness in making this record was greater than her previous works, but it is very incohesive and some tracks are worth skipping for like GOLDWING and Oxytocin, unlike her non-skipped debut album.

Like many other artists in this decade, Eilish took a step to also apply Lana Del Rey’s melodies, songwriting, and instrumentation, as evident with Your Power, Halley’s Comet and Getting Older. However, there are few standout songs that are worth mentioning for, like Therefore I Am, Getting Older and the spoken-word interlude, Not My Responsibility. Some songs were great to listen at start but will suddenly disappoint you, like Happier Than Ever and GOLDWING. Happier Than Ever was one of the greatest pop record in 2021 but if I would compare it with its debut record, I will happily vine with “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO”, 50% more. Happier Than Ever isn’t a bad record but just a major step down from her previous sounds, and if I were to suggest, she should reconsider her track listing procedures for the album. All songs are worth listening for but I think some were listed in the wrong album.

The tracks that stand out the me are mostly the soft ones and the climactic ending with “Happier than ever”, the only song where this loud sound works. I also don’t think she could’ve included a “roll the credits-ish” song, it’s just not needed, because It doesn’t add anything to the record after the last one. She could’ve put that one in between the others, but I think she knew what she was doing and decided to do it anyway. I don’t think the loud and bombastic style fits her voice really well, that’s why the slow and soft tracks stand out. Except for the kind of interlude song called “not my responsibility” where she goes in on all the journalists and people in her comment section that call her a “slut” or “fat” and all those kind of insults. I get the message, I think it’s brave, but Damn you could’ve put this on your Instagram story or something instead of preaching into a mic thinking you’re doing something to change the world or something. I don’t like it and I always just skip it, it’s a real miss. She could’ve put this into a song, but she didn’t. It’s also not something deep spoken word like with Kendrick Lamar on the skit of “i” where he talks about the N-word and changing it have a better connotation “Negus” means King, and that’s where he wants to change it to, that’s so much better than writing your insecurities down and telling everyone “I get called a slut because of my clothes”, that ain’t doing nothing. I don’t know this is just the worst “song” I’ve heard of her yet, it’s brave, overrated and not needed on this record.

Half of these songs have not gone over 100 million plays. If you want to see actual good songs that HAVE over 100 million plays, just listen to her old stuff. Good luck!

On July 30, 2021 ‘Happier Than Ever’ arrived and contrary to its title, is filled with either down-tempo melancholy (Halley’s Comet) or hip hop influenced lo-fi (Lost Cause) tracks. Unfortunately however, Eilish’s sophomore has many flaws - and not enough peaks to suffice. Quite a few of the tracks act as fillers (My Future, Not My Responsibility, Overheated, Everyone Dies), but in the gospel influenced ‘GOLDWING’ and punk rock title track, Billie Eilish shows although she may not be happy, or the record may not be as good as her past material, she’s more raring to go as an artist than ever. It’s unfair to call this a ‘bad’ album; it’s not. It however feels much less passionate then what we anticipated from Eilish’s sophomore album. From a 16 track album, maybe 2 songs that I would choose to listen to again. Title track is good for 3 days but tires quickly.

Las canciones llegan a ser un tanto olvidables, si, ay canciones buenas pero la mayoría no tiene algo que facine. Líricamente es bueno y su producción llega a ser mala, no supero en ningún aspecto a su primer album y eso que ni tan bueno es.

Although I know about Billie since 2016 when she released "Six Feet Under" and love her EP "dont smile at me", I can't seem to like her albums. I don't know why, it just seems uninspired to me and it is a shame. The track that shares the same name as the album is a banger though.

Billies having her "tough second season" creatively. All the songs are very nothing-y. I get that she's telling stories and expressing past pains through her lyrics and I applaud her for that.
That's just what all the positive reviews are about- the lyrics and themes. I haven't seen a single interview to praise what the reviews should be about - the music!

It seems she is very influenced by the typical boring contemporary social-media-influencer-rnb. The old Billie darkness is still there at points but the songs are just so sub-par quality-wise that's in honestly difficult to listen to the album on one.go

The difference between the girl she was when she did the first EP and the debut album vs the woman she is now is clearly gonna affect the kind of art she produces.

I hope she'll be back with something more inspiring. I love all her other stuff...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To preface, I loved her first album. And I love a few tracks from her ep. I was hoping this album would continue riding that same momentum of great songs. Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me. Aside from the singles, every song on this album is incredibly boring & monotonous. I really wanted to like it, but I found myself skipping tracks. The production is repetitive/boring & so are Billie's vocal performances. I hope I'll like it when I give it another listen but I don't think I will. These tracks have little replay value. Expand

Did Billie Eilish really need to spend the entirety of Happier Than Ever whispering two inches from the microphone? She sounds like someone planted limp, lo-fi, hip-hop beats in the background of an NPR news segment. She may as well be singing over the menu music on the Wii.

I get that the album is supposed to convey a sense of ennui, but amongst ennui you can be frustrated with the system that put you there. You can be angry at yourself for letting your passion become a job. You can take joy in the little moments spent with friends who remind you of home. You can feel robbed. You can feel slighted. You can feel lonely. You can have any emotion at all.

Happier Than Ever is so one note and monotone that the deep cuts don't sound any different from the sex jams on this scrubbed, sanitized and overly-polished record. In fact, the type of explosive, white-hot, chemical heat Billie conveys can be replicated by, with a proper lab and chemical safety gear, pouring a ten ounce glass of water into a second ten ounce glass of water.

So, whilst it may not boast songs that stick with you for months in the way that Eilish’s first does, Happier Than Ever feels like a project that will age more gracefully and, in years to come, it may even come to eclipse that which came before it.
  2. 80
“Your Power” is the slowest-and-lowest moment on “Happier Than Ever,” but as a whole the album is softer, quieter, more languid than Eilish’s trap-inflected debut. ... The dreamy-jazzy mode suits her singing, which has never sounded better than it does throughout “Happier Than Ever.”

Billie Eilish’s second album expands upon everything that worked the last time and pushes it in new directions, a creative muse restless and bold in its ambition. It may not always land, but this is a terrific release that proves Eilish’s staying power, demonstrating she’s more than up to the task of delivering on the promise of her debut.
