The levity of the words is the perfect counterbalance to the fury of their playing. [Nov 2015, p.110]

Girl Band possess enormous potential and big, big things look to be lying just around the corner for the Dubliners. Whilst this often only remains as potential for this first step, Holding Hands With Jamie is a refreshing change and welcome one-fingered salute to the mundane and safe rock music of today.

Holding Hands With Jamie remains an untamed beast that’ll pave the way for Girl Band’s unstoppable ascent. There remains a nagging feeling, however, that this deadly work could’ve forced an apocalypse if delivered with more conviction.

Girl Band have similarly taken advantage of their expanded recording budget in order to craft their most bracing work yet.

This is all over the place, a swirling flurry of noisy chaos. One thing is certain, this is not an album that clicks on the first listen. ItThis is all over the place, a swirling flurry of noisy chaos. One thing is certain, this is not an album that clicks on the first listen. It took me at least 5 full (painful) listens before I heard anything. What I did hear was more interesting than particularly enjoyable but the more I've listened to it, the better it has gotten. It's very different to your mainstream rock. This kind of heavy lifting isn't for everyone but there is definitely something of value to be heard in the storm. Full Review »
