In keeping with the understated, meditative quality of the lyrics, Principe pushes his voice to notes of particular emphasis but conspicuously avoids the acrobatics that might otherwise attract attention: rarely does anything so lovely appear so unassuming.

The album is unique in that it gives a very personal look into an individual's experience with catharsis, and it's one more of murmurs and heavy sighs than screaming matches and broken dishes.

Holiday is resolutely sombre, but the arrangements make inviting drama out of Principe's impressionistic lyrical intimacies. [May 2013, p.75]

What it lacks in traditional hooks, it compensates for with distinct and weighty gestures.

More variety would help his cause, but Holiday is a graceful, emotionally affluent debut.

At times this recording is compelling, entrancing even with its sheer beauty; occasionally though it drags.
