Jun 20, 2017This is quintessential St. Etienne -- 60s-tinged pop mixed with great modern grooves, odd sound snippets or orchestrated short pieces between longer songs. Sarah sounds as great as ever. Great LP.

Jun 9, 2017What a gorgeous, lush surprise. Stunning. Gave me the chills. How they were able to capture the simple beige world of the burbs and make something beautiful is just genius.

Feb 12, 2018Nobody does quirky intelligent pop better than Saint Etienne. This is another proof. Absolutely fabulous record mixing 60s pop with 90s electronica. Funny how their sound still remains too clever and sophisticated for the critics mob.

Jul 10, 2017Saint Etienne will always be interesting, and may still have a classic album in them, but maybe they need to drop the intellectual tendencies and simply embrace the music of the idols whom they so clearly adore.

Jun 30, 2017The band’s approach to music-making has always been as eclectic as their references, but generally they’ve stuck to one approach per album. Unfortunately this is where Home Counties comes a bit unstuck. There’s quite a lot going on.
