RomanMSep 18, 20069This album is the perfect soundtrack for autumn. Worth the 77 minute run time.

-
JonLSep 13, 20069Unless Sparklehorse or The Decemberists pull out something really, really special, this album gets my vote for Album of the Year

-
MESep 14, 20069Popmatters gave it a 9 not an 8 ??!!

KitTMay 3, 20079I don't think I've heard anything so colourful and melodic recently. The range is awesome, from heavy riffings to sweet mellow poppy tunes, somehow they all fit well in the album. Nothing short of brilliant.

-
NikDec 21, 20069A very solid album, I will just leave it at that.
-
-
AjaxDec 20, 20069Not their best album but when you have as strong a catalogue as YLT it doesn't need to be to beat off all competition this year. At no point does it feel overlong or anything other than brilliant.

jeremyJan 12, 20079Best since Electr-o-pura (which just happens to be a top 10 all-time album for me).

-
BobCMay 15, 200710Very different from prior Cds. I think it's their best work.

tjdfjklyhgSep 11, 200610Yo La Tengo can pretty much do no wrong. I like each and every song on this album. Absolutely great to see them branching out after the (though admittedly great) subdued air of their last two albums. Album of the Year, for sure.

MarcFSep 11, 200610Excellent album. YLT's return to great form !

-
ColinDSep 11, 200610This may actually be the best Yo La Tengo album (though, ranking is arbitrary when a band has been as consistently good as YLT). It's amazing that they're still making statements this far-reaching and experimental this far into their career.

KenGSep 12, 200610One of the best albums of the year.

-
ChrisCSep 14, 20069Instantly an amazing album. And I even hated the last Yo La Tengo album I bought. (The 2000 one.) And, best title ever.

MattD.Sep 14, 200610Comparisons to sprawling albums like The White Album are correct. But the music is unique.

-
LawrencePSep 14, 20069One of the best and most complete bands in the world...makes you think that what your listening to is the only music you need in your life.
-
-
JackPotSep 14, 20069Their best album since I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One.
-
-
StevenGSep 15, 200610The title alone is enough to hold my interest, but beyond that, I am so impressed by this album....it manages to feel like one of the greatest mix-tapes (or CDs) ever made, while also maintaing a cohesive sound, the kind of balancing act that only Yo La Tengo can pull off. I have a feeling this album will be talked about for years.

JamesWSep 22, 20069I caught a short set culled from this album at the Pitchfork Festival this summer. Now that the tunes have settled into my brain cells, I can't wait for their return to Chicago in a couple of weeks. Is it just me, or does "Black Flowers" channel the Kinks at their most wistfull? Great work, YLT!

KevinRSep 23, 200610Quite possibly the best album of the year. The songs flow well and it is always interesting. Almost every song is a highlight. Definitely one of the best albums of recent memory.

-
RobertHJun 22, 200710An album as awesome as its name!
-
-
RobbieCSep 14, 20079More totally entrancing and exciting and expectation-shattering with every song. At the same time, it's good ol' yo la tengo. Absolutely brilliant. My second favorite album from YLT, one of the greatest ever.
