  • Summary: The Josh Haden-led Spain expanded to a four-piece band for this, their third album.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 1 out of 4
  2. Negative: 0 out of 4
  1. A substantial offering awash with humble entreaties and doe-eyed, lounge affectations.
  2. This album should seduce fans of Red House Painters or American Music Club. [Oct/Nov 2001, p.130]
  3. I Believe is one of those albums that hardly anyone could bring themselves to hate, but almost no one could truly latch on to.
  4. While some listeners will welcome this growth and expansion of sound, longtime fans will doubtless lament the lack of pure intimacy and calm melancholy that enveloped Spain’s first and second albums.
Score distribution:
  1. Positive: 1 out of 1
  2. Mixed: 0 out of 1
  3. Negative: 0 out of 1

An album that stays in the straight line of what we like Spain for. Maybe a bit less good than the one before by repetiting songs but i still like what they gave us this time. Expand
