I only heard about this band after seeing their video for 'Dancing Anymore' on a countdown of the most controversial music videos (it's something else...), but I so loved the song that I went looking for this album. It's a treat! Though only 10 tracks there feels like rather a lot to get through. The last track 'Yellow Teeth' sounds a lot like 'Crimson & Clover'. I like this album.

Less fixatedly house-centric than before, I'm Leaving incorporates fuzzy dance-rock under the influence of girl groups and New Order. [Jul 2013, p.106]

As a whole, this album might be less coherent than Native To, where Is Tropical spent their time delivering variations on one sound. Track for track, however, I'm Leaving is the more interesting and promising set of songs.

At its most nondescript, it’s the sound of a band falling between two musical stools. At its best, I’m Leaving is the sound of a band smartly prolonging its sell-by date.
