Immortalized is the Disturbed album that everyone expected to hear. There are enjoyable moments to be found on here, as well as cringe-worthy moments, but that’s essentially every Disturbed album that’s ever been released. It’s infectious, catchy, obnoxious, predictable, and it’s going to be loved and hated by everyone who knows the band’s ‘iconic’ brand of musical talent and tomfoolery.Immortalized is the Disturbed album that everyone expected to hear. The album has it's satisfyingly heavy tracks, but overall this isn't the album Disturbed needed after a five year hiatus. I can honestly say this is the first album by Disturbed where I didn't find myself moved by any of it. I appreciate what they're doing and how they're taking some risks with new sounds but, ultimately, the album feels very generic and flat. Unfortunately, this album won't be gracing the rest of their collection on my iPod. Expand

New Disturbed is everything you expected it to be. Old Disturbed with a new album cover. I've been a fan since I was really young so I enjoy some songs on the new album just from a nostalgia stand point. A few songs on this album are good but most of them are very generic Disturbed songs.

The song "fire it up" has to be the most distasteful and worst lyrical content of any song they have ever written.

This album has all the stylistics and ingredients that any Disturbed album should have, with memorable hooks in tracks like "Immortalized" and "The Vengeful One", yet something feels a little off-ish about it. It feels like something is missing. The album can feel a bit predictable at times especially considering Asylum showed signs of progression and slow steady maturation for the band, meaning Immortalized kinda feels like a step backwards. There is little in the way of surprise, even despite the piano-driven cover of The Sound of Silence (one of the album's stronger points) and the questionable "Fire it Up" (you'll probably either love or hate this song) and it feels like there were opportunities for the band to go all out with this record that they were perhaps too hesitant to take. Some of the songs are memorable and others are not because of the "play it safe" approach they take. Let's hope that their next album shows a little more ambition. Expand

While the album also has its fair share of bona fide, looks-like-we-just-broke-the-bottom-of-the-barrel moments ("Fire It Up" instantly comes to mind here), Disturbed manage to do just enough to keep metal purists from dispensing with them completely.

There's just not much here to keep the group's detractors from bringing out their pitchforks, and over time, staying the course may leave fewer and fewer townsfolk to protect them.
