    Indie-goth, shoegaze, post-punk, all of these descriptions fit but none of them can begin to tell the whole story and with the arrival of In Search of the Miraculous there is a sense that this soulful, anthemic, continually evolving band are just getting started.

In their case, they manage to stay true to their post-punk style while refusing to be bogged down by their noticeable influences. Where other bands desperately try to showcase their musical versatility by deviating more and more from their own sound, Desperate Journalist stay true to themselves.
