Feb 11, 2020As a long time Police fan, I found these new takes both familiar (in the case of the more faithful translations) and refreshing (as when she pulls a song like "Next to You" into a new sonic space.) It's a great cover project for a band that hasn't received a lot of love in the cover department. I will have this in my playlist on repeat. Thanks, JH!!

Nov 18, 2019Ultimately, Juliana Hatfield Sings The Police distills all that's great about Hatfield—the innocence of her earliest recordings, the spreading her instrumental wings after The Juliana Hatfield Three's Become What You Are, the singer/songwriter touch of her mid-period, and a certain devil may care attitude—and presents it in the context of an artist reinventing herself, and these songs, for all to see.

Nov 14, 2019Juliana Hatfield Sings The Police is an experiment, and maybe as such it’ll be deemed less worthy, less interesting, than Weird. But where Weird is good, Juliana Hatfield Sings The Police is engrossing, an act of pop cultural interrogation for its own sake.

Nov 14, 2019As Juliana Hatfield has demonstrated, the Police songbook is wide and varied enough to be open to endless interpretation. As she has demonstrated with this album as well as the Olivia Newton-John project, she's a musician who is dedicated to paying tribute to the music of her youth and finding new and interesting ways to present it.
