The album can be quite a handful at times, but if in search for a post-rock record that makes so much of an impression in so little time, one need not look any further than this.

The trio's assembly of sharp percussion and atmospheric melody as logically configured and essential to the make-up as words are to a properly written or formed sentence.

The truly standout moments come throughout in the form of Emma Ruth Tundle's brittle and breathy vocals.

Kitsune is a powerful and fragile album and composes itself with the grace required to step ahead of the current glut of bands that are revisiting the post-rock genre, believing that all that all post-rock requires is distortion pedals and patience.

It's a perfectly serviceable and enjoyable post-metal/rock album that makes no real mistakes, and does manage to tweak the knobs of the formula ever-so-slightly.
