Here again Lil Durk surprises us by his phenomenal lack of creativity, talent and sense of novelty. On 'Lil Durk 2x Deluxe' we are entitled to have access to the most recycled and generic thirteen tracks I've ever listened to. I can't even honestly thank people like Future, Young Thug and Ty Dolla $ign for helping Lil Durk doing this mess because they all go in the same unsurprising and unrewarding way. Dej Loaf is the only one who brings a bit of variety but yeah, Durk always manages to ruin it all. Impersonal from start to end: no identity, no added value, classic structure, uninspired themes, just straight vulgarity.

Lyrics are flat, production is dull and boring all along, the lyrics delivery is really poor, the versatility is totally missing. I'll leave Nick Henderson of Tiny Mix Tapes (and I cite him) 'wanting more of this', this crap that made my ears bleed. Thank God anyway in a sense because this could have been longer.

It's hard at times to be a fan of this genre, because it can be overly formulaic and offer little hope for the future, but despite the dark trappings there's still some musically redeeming fun to be had.

Records like this are what will eventually outmode the contradiction of “too street for the industry,” eschewing both categories in the unique accomplishment of a profit-driven truth-telling venture. More like this.

A crossover single aside, LILDURK2X, at its core, really lacks any unique personality. From song to song we just get served disappointingly mediocre aggressive rap music that is hard to hate but also challenging to love.
