It still surprises me that to this day this album of tripe gets rated so highly.
Why is this album good???, because Rolling Stone Magazine told you so. Sorry they stopped being culturally relevant 30 years ago.
As for those who said this is rock n roll, it's not, it's not even punk, it's ska. Ska is one of the poorest forms of music known to man. The Clash are the granddaddies of some

As for those who said this is rock n roll, it's not, it's not even punk, it's ska. Ska is one of the poorest forms of music known to man. The Clash are the granddaddies of some incredibly poor music, think Cake, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Just because it's from Britain and has one decent song on it doesn't make it good. This album is un-listenable, and if they were from anywhere bar the USA or Britain, they never would have been heard of.

I wonder if the people giving 10's here are also massive fans of The Police and Sting because they are just The Clash gone commercial, but I dare say that wouldn't be touched with a ten foot pole.............because it's not cool.

The demo versions... sound like an incompetent Clash cover band rehearsing in a sock.... If you're considering buying this glorious record for the first time, save 20 bucks and go for the basic version. [Oct 2004, p.136]

A serious, ridiculously ambitious punk album. [14 Oct 2004, p.100]

What burns from the music is The Clash's defining characteristic: the fact that they were insatiable omnivores. [Oct 2004, p.136]
