The songs are simple and instantly catchy, fuller in sound than their previous work and fueled by prominent percussion that’s been moved to the forefront.

A joyful, spirited album that also stands to teach whoever listens to it some vital life lessons.

Spend enough time with Lost Time and you’ll find yourself singing snatches of lyrics about the west coast tsunami (“I Love Seattle”) or misogynist trolls (“The Internet”) in the shower. And, weirdly, it’ll be fun.

Is merits (pep, sass, tunes) come to the boil in the ludicrously catchy I Hate The Weekend, but Lost Time is such an enjoyable half-hour you’ll barely worry about favourites.

Adding more noise and toughness to their sound on Lost Time was a genius move, taking an already very good band and pointing it toward greatness, or at the very least helping Tacocat make one of the most fun punk-pop albums around.

There's something pure about Tacocat, which comes across throughout Lost Time. The band describe themselves as being best friends, and this sense of joy and excitement is palpable throughout.

The music is fantastic, catchy, unpretentious power-pop. Once its 32 minutes are up, you'll likely want to spin it again.

When it comes to Tacocat’s Lost Time the reward to repeated listens is further appreciation of the clever, relatable lyrics. It’s an instantly likable record, buoyed by work of producer Erik Blood who imparts a really bright sheen on the band’s sound.

The second album from Seattle's Tacocat's is full of concise, energetic pop-punk, built on surfy guitars, sharp melodies and the whip-smart feminist wit of singer Emily Nokes.

They are definitely a marketable band (it’s no wonder Katy Perry ripped them off) and Lost Time is Tacocat’s biggest accomplishment to date--27 minutes of bubblegum pop that doesn’t lose its taste.

It’s a shame to see Nokes not stretch her limits, and there are times the band would benefit from being bolder or angrier.

There's no question that many of Lost Time's lyrics are funny, but the attitude that fueled NVM feels crushed. In both the vocal delivery and the driving guitars, the vibe is damper, the color somewhat drained.

Sometimes a record is a feast for the soul, and sometimes it’s a dozen chocolate cupcakes.
