Magic Time is one of those rare, intermittent Van Morrison records that consciously offers a bird's eye view of everywhere he's been musically and weaves it all together into a heady brew.
-
Rolling StoneSome seriously astral blues poetry... and a lot of mellow, easy-rolling folk-jazz numbers about the evils of the modern world and the struggle of the poet. [19 May 2005, p.76]
-
Thankfully, for Morrison, the joy still comes from the journey, and the Magic Time is the time when he’s still striving, wandering and ?ghting off complacency.
-
Entertainment WeeklyHe has rarely sounded more engaging. [3 Jun 2005, p.82]
-
Missteps aside, Magic Time delivers that familiar blanket on a chill winter’s day vibe, and Morrison fans will thankfully bury themselves under it.
-
This destined-to-be-classic release will please a wide variety of his fans.
