    This album has failings and successes; it all adds up to a highly commendable record, there's no doubt in that.

    Magnetic Man accomplishes its goal: make pretty for the spotlight.
  4. This a forward-thinking, original British album that has captivated a new generation of music fans, not simply by rehashing the old, but by giving the young something that belongs to them and taunting them to do better.

    While Magnetic Man demonstrates their work candidly, you haven't heard the works of Skream, Benga, or Artwork until you've seen them live.
  6. Tracks such as "Boiling Water" wouldn't sound out of place in a naff holiday resort. There are notable exceptions, though, such as "Fire" feat Ms Dynamite.

    As a pop album, there's much to love on Magnetic Man and very little filler present, even if some tracks ("Going Nowhere", "Karma Crazy") strike harder than others ("Perfect Stranger", "Ping Pong").

    It's not spectacular but it is a reliable and solid effort. Whether this is a pivotal moment for the genre remains to be seen.

    At its best, the album is bracing, capable of winning over the cynics who are not particularly open-minded about crossover dance music.
