Falkner's presence helps tighten up Moore's game with out diluting his essential weirdness, while Moore encourages the usually perfectionist Falkner to cut loose and re-engage with the taste for lo-fi leakage. [Mar 2017, p.50]

A certain tolerance for Moore’s loopier sound experiments and slam poetry skits may be required here, but for the most part this is an appealing mix of strangeness and sheen.

Nicely balancing quirk and craft, Make It Be works so well one hopes this isn’t the only time this pair swings together.

Album opener “I H8 Ppl” sets the tone: a misanthropic song about Moore’s distaste for anyone other than himself, it rolls along like an outtake from the Who’s early album “Sell Out.” There’s not a bum note on the gritty 17 songs that follow.

The feeling is one of two planets that happened to get into each other’s orbit, with pleasing results. Hopefully they’ll eclipse again soon.

Make It Be is a fine, fine record that deserves to be heard now and well into the distant future.

Make It Be is more than a pleasant diversion or an oddball one-off: It's the work of two artists of great worth firing on all cylinders. Fans of both Moore and Falkner should be thrilled by the results.

A must for fans of either protagonist, plus devotees of classic Todd Rundgren and Ween. [May 2017, p.94]

Not everything works on this bloated 18-tracker, but enough hits the target. [May 2017, p.35]

    d. If you’ve followed either Moore or Falkner, it’s certainly a curio. Everyone else--life is way too short.
