    Music doesn't always need to be about preaching, grand-slam bombastic leanings or pushing the envelope forward – that's a fallacy. Sometimes it can just be sonically gorgeous, layered and pleasing to your hearing and thought - just as Marissa Nadler ends up being.

So original, so carefully crafted, so rewarding. There are comparison touch points like Leonard Cohen or Hope Sandoval but they really don't give you an idea of what you're about to hear. I just can't believe that in a moment like right now, 2011 A.D., that an album possesses this kind of delicacy and patience to reward the listener in ways that most other artists/albums seem unaware are even possibilities.… Full Review »

What makes this album worthwhile is the quality that Marissa has a songwriter, this album is full of beautiful lyrics which together with her great vocal performance make this album a magical and captivating gem. You just need to hear songs like "In your lair, Bear", "In a magazine", or the masterpiece "Puppet master" to fall in love with this album that as Marissa Nadler said "It's the most honest, natural record I've ever written"… Full Review »
