    Whole album was a cash grab, 20 versions and for what ? She didn’t release a lead single because she knew if people heard how it was going to sound her streaming numbers would be low, nothing on the album stands apart from the rest it all sounds the same, it’s nothing we’ve heard before from her, lazy lyrics, boring melodies, monotonous voice, whole thing should have been scrapped

    Very, very generic and lacks life, like most of Taylor Swift’s music and albums, unfortunately. Don’t have a clue how it charted like it did, except for the fact that most of the public prefer flat, mainstream music and aren’t open to changing/expanding their view of artists out there.

    Taylor just proved how basic she is. If you listen to her discography, you’ll never know which album the song is from because everything sounds exactly the same, never changes. And the fact that she insists on bringing up one hundred different versions of the same song is really annoying.

    Terrible and BORING as usual, no good vocals and overall one of the worst albums of all time. Massive downgrade, she’s been in her flop era and hasn’t had a single good album. Overall boring, terrible production, horrible autotune, lazy lyricism, and pure TRASH. She shouldn’t have dated min0rs and built like a tayble, horrible nasty woman.

    Lack of development throughout the album. Only liked the opening track "Lavender Haze" which is ironic because Zoe Kravtiz co-wrote it showing Taylor needs to actually work with black women more for good quality songs! Everything after Lavender Haze got boring and snoozefesty. Majority of the album tracks sounded the same with no texture. Her 3am tracks sounded a lot better than what isLack of development throughout the album.     I feel like I am missing something with everyone praising this album and it getting good reviews. To me it’s just not that good, her worst and weakest album to date. The melodies go absolutely nowhere, vocal melodies are so boring and the production is plain, there’s no vocal range, Taylor stays in the same register the entire time, lyrics are not so great either, throwing in a few bigI feel like I am missing something with everyone praising this album and it getting good reviews. To me it’s just not that good, her worst and weakest album to date. The melodies go absolutely nowhere, vocal melodies are so boring and the production is plain, there’s no vocal range, Taylor stays in the same register the entire time, lyrics are not so great either, throwing in a few big words doesnt necessarily make a song good, feels like her tackiest juvenile lyrics yet. It doesnt sound like a taylor swift album. Snow On The Beach is decent and anti hero is a grower but thats it. Not one good hook or amazing bridge something she is very well known for. The songs just sort drag on, like you are waiting for something to happen and it just doesnt. She used Lana as a selling point and she barley sung on the song apart from one line. Its like jack told her 'hey go read some monotone poetry' and write lyrics like that and I’ll do some boring synth work over the rest. It’s basically sounds like a bad jack antonoff album to me, not a Taylor swift one. I think she needs to stop working with him, hes boring and doesn’t challenge her and most of his stuff all sounds the same. I don’t know how swift can go from writing songs like Dear John on her own at 19 to whatever this mess is, like I expected hard hitting lyrics the way she describe this album but to me it sounds like something a semi decent 19yr old pop singer today would write. If any other artist released this I wouldn’t have listened to it, and if any other artist released this I doubt they’d be getting the same hype. It feels like nothing but favouritism to me at this point, anything she does gets praised no matter if its good or bad, anyone who dares gives her constructive criticism is deemed a hater and that’s the problem critics are afraid of getting blacklisted or attacked by her or her fans and when you have an entire fandom that are yes people there is zero room for growth. Overall an underwhelming album that isn’t that enjoyable to listen to and something that is forgettable, I’ve listened to it over and over the past day and not one lyric or melody has stuck or played in my head, something that always happens with a swift album and this is coming from a swiftie since 2007.… Expand

She needs to stop making music for a few years to understand which direction to go since 2019 she has released mediocre material and impulsively dropped albums does not help the artist's creativity even if it satisfies your fan base which in this particular case is mainly a white demography.

    Taylor's worst album by a long shot. lyrically it's nothing special for her standards and the additional songs go against the album concept but the biggest disappointment is the production, the songs sound extremely unpolished.

Just a mix, mashup, follow-up of the previous pop albums (1989, reputation, Lover). bonus tracks are somehow way better than the actual album, some recalling folkmore/evermore as well, but again, disappointing because you expect a masterpiece from TaylorCute songs and some are actually good lyrically but nothing innovative and actually disappointing considering how it was anticipated.     Instrumentally there is nothing to discuss other than a basic drum machine, vocally there isn't many hooks or melodies to really draw you in. It's a very lyrically focused album, but unless you're already a Taylor Swift fan there isn't much to keep you around to really listen to those lyrics.

One would hope these were cheeky songs, except she sounds like she is trying to be sensual. I'm not a Taylor-hater by nature either. I was a fan for the majority of her career but this is all the worst elements of her music put together and amplified. Listening to this album truly felt like she was trying to see if she could put out terrible music and still dominate the charts and have critical acclaim due to her name-powet.     Reputation feels so long ago, the last three albums have now solidified the fact that the new Taylor just can't compete with the old Taylor. Every song, except for what could be a Billie Elish cover, falls flat and tired. She needs some people that can say No to her in the studio, I feel all these song were bad ideas thar weren't rejected.

    By far the most horrific body of work she's done. It's like a bunch of rejects from "Lover" and none of the songs have interesting melodies or lyrics that don't center around Taylor. She's really a one-trick pony, and this album proves that. Folklore and Evermore were flukes, this is the real Taylor. A true narcissist.

Whoever's calling it dark and cryptic has lost their mind, this is literally what a 16-year-old would write after breaking up as they decide and alternate between the feelings of 'oh no my love is gone' and 'who cares, am a bad b!tch'. It genuinely sounds like a bunch of Lover and FolkloreAs much as I had wanted Midnights to be a genuine hit, it is literally a sad album in all its phases. The vocals on the deluxe 7 tracks are still fine but on the original album, they are just bad and rotten. As for lyrics, I had, with all my heart, soul, mind, believed that Taylor is THAT girl in songwriting, like just amazing in it, but some lyrics like:

    "Somedays I feel like everybody's a sweet baby"
    "Spider Boy, King of thieves'
    It's such abysmal writing, I am honestly horrified.

    Lavender Haze and Snow On The Beach sound rather fine, but other than that the whole album is like a greatly anticipated movie's bad trailer only, it's like the Junglebook with the graphics of the Junglepeople. Every song seems to build on and on and on, but it never stops building to reach that climax. It can be a beautiful album, she had the chance, but except for the hype that Taylor Swift brings, I really don't think is a critical or commercial success, it's, to be straightforward, plain boring.    … Expand

    Unfortunately Midnights was very MID. I generally love Taylor’s music and really like all of her albums for the most part. I didn’t vibe too much with Evermore and was hoping this new album would sound better. This is overrated honestly and people will say it’s good just because it’s Taylor Swift. It is definitely not one of the better albums released this year and certainly can’t competeUnfortunately Midnights was very MID. Highlights like Vigilante **** and Maroon seemed to be missing something production wise. Still a really cool vibe- but this mixed with the lyrics in Karma have taken this album down for me.… Expand

    This album is as bland as hell and has no redeeming qualities. The lyrics are really awful and the delivery is really poor. One of the weakest albums I've ever heard. Damon Albarn is clearly a better songwriter.

    this album is a big no for me, I as a swiftie since 2012, feel that she has been declining in the quality of her new body of work. she is kind of becoming lazy to try to be good at writing new songs, she needs Jack to write good songs that are not pop. her last good album was Red, that is 10 years ago. she is very lost, maybe it is time for me to unstan her.

This album is Taylor's first "post-pandemic" album and the production is much larger than her previous two albums Folklore and Evermore, but features none of the charm or lyrical wit of the previous two. Instead this album feels like a demo version of Reputation and Lover, while lacking any of the  merits those albums had.… Expand

    Taylor managed to outdo himself by releasing an album worse than the lover. at least in lover we have highs and lows, (more lows than highs) this one is just low, so monotonous & so basic that it could be a Selena Gómez album. Its time to stop thinking jack antonoff is a good producer, hes been making the same song for years

    I loved her latest albums (Folklore/Evermore) but this one sounds like a bunch of rejected songs that didn't make it to her best albums. Rushed and unfinished. Have 2-3 good songs but, in total, it's a mess.

    Elevator music composers, Android ringtone creators and Mrs Crocombe must be all very grateful that Taylor Swift used their samples so they can get some cash from her, but otherwise this is pretty much useless artifact of human activity.

    While her 10th album doesn’t make instant classic status like 1989, and Evermore and Folklore remain her masterpieces, it is still an understated, beguiling look into the mind of one of the biggest pop stars of our age.
