I would give Mount Ninji a 0, however it does prove it has originality, though none of it plays well. The whole album is basically what hell sounds like to me and in trying to understand Die Antwoord's appeal, I find myself looking for a diamond in a pile of dung.

Mount Ninji and Da Nice Time Kid is an album which never seems to go anywhere both within the context of the album itself and within the context of Die Antwoord's discography. Here Die Antwoord's occasionally rewarding dark humor provides little to distract from the corny lines and lazy writing. All of this is topped off with a prepubescent child rambling on about his penis. Unfortunately, Mount Ninji is an album that’s too obnoxious when it’s not boring and too boring when it’s not obnoxious; there’s seldom a competent middle ground and over the span of an hour, it doesn’t hit a single stride.

Though Mount Ninji and Da Nice Time Kid is a far from perfect record, it proves that Die Antwoord have still got life in them yet, despite the recent hyperbole.

It's appropriate imagery: Mount Ninji is a hedonistic party in a trash heap.
