Rarely does a double album (or a quadruple EP?) sound so revitalizing, but Django Django somehow pull it off on their best release in years.

While the length of the album is a little exhausting, there's no denying that this is the band's most accomplished and ambitious record to date. [Jul 2023, p.27]

At times, it seems to make more sense as a collection of EPs, as it sometimes doesn’t hang together as an album as coherently as it may do. Yet there’s still much to enjoy on this mammoth collection, and on tracks like Don’t Touch That Dial and Complete Me, Django Django have produced some of their best work to date.

Don't ask me how or why, but it seems that our paths are easy to cross in between them.
From the beginning, the band had an interesting proposal which has become entertaining in brief parts of their career. They have an innovation, authenticity and cleverness to create an indie pop that would not exist if it wasn't because of them. I've always appreciated their music, but hearing them is not always as mesmerizing as it could be. In their projects they normally go from dance to ambience very much, and their concepts are not always in solid ground. Yet, "Off Planet" is the most solid and concise I've heard them. Not as awesome as "Born Under Saturn", maybe, but the awesome beats are put to the test one more time, and they go through it smoothly as always. And, by being the most concise project of their career, I do find them taking lest risks, but exploring this concept, with more carefulness and focus, the complete 4 pieces that make this project is actually the most friendly listen, equally surprising and with an experimentation and ambient that is accessible, interesting and friendly to listen. Do give a chance to what Django Django is making. One of these days, they might turn around the complete music industry with a greater concept they just need to land on. It is not a matter of if, but of when.
