Oh Holy Molar is a subtle album, but its impact is hard to shake.

To say that Oh Holy Molar has a bite is a vast understatement -- the record grabs ahold of your skin and refuses to let go.

Their songcraft proves singularly remarkable once more.
  5. Oh Holy Molar isn't quite poetry in motion, but not all poetry needs to be in such a state to be enjoyed.

Oh Holy Molar, Felix's second album, recalls the starkness and exaggerated intimacy of records by Cat Power and Scout Niblett, but Chua is a far more reserved and poised individual... [Yet some songs] reveal the limits of Chua's voice and aesthetic.

When Oh Holy Molar hits its mid-section, its main crack begins to show-with songs this meditative and relatively melancholy it can feel like a lot to sit through for one listen. Fortunately the songwriting is so consistently excellent throughout Oh Holy Molar that it comes close to avoiding feeling as long as it is.

The two note piano trick gets slightly overplayed on Practicing Magic, but then it represents the only real misfire rather than a lack of ideas. This is an utterly intriguing and unsettling album.
