Like a lot of the bands that inspired it, Omnium Gatherum is expansive, assorted, and at least a little self-indulgent, but that’s precisely what makes it brilliant.

This is a band, ten years into their career, still at the height of their powers, rejuvenated and ready to show the world that you still can’t second-guess them.

They ramp up the melodicism and play with all the gusto of musicians who have been separated for far too long.

Omnium Gatherum proves King Gizzard still have a whole lot of it left in the tank.

Taken as a complete album experience, it’s a little too all over the place to measure up to their most focused work, and its robust length is pretty intimidating. But as a smorgasbord of strange sonic shape-shifting, it’s a pretty fun listen.

The rest can't quite compete [with the 18-minute The Dripping Tap], and is at its best on the contrasting Magenta mountain and Presumptous. [Jun 2022, p.84]

It's the first truly disappointing album that the band have released and the first where they sound like they are running out of gas instead of hitting on all cylinders.

Fantastic and hypnotic album with every track. The first audition takes you by surprise in some parts. Too good! This album is a gift. AnotherFantastic and hypnotic album with every track. I wouldn't call this album bad by any means, but similar to "Gumboot soup", there is a little something for everyone.

Most of these tracks are obvious B-Sides to their previous batch of albums, just like they did on "Gumboot soup". Personally, I would have removed the rap tracks from this record and it would have been an 8.
