  • Summary: The all-girl metal band's sophomore effort (and no, we're not referring to their high school class) includes a cover of Pink Floyd's "Run Like Hell."

  1. Oracle sees Kittie moving from novelty status to bone-crushing legitimacy. [Jan 2002, p.86]
  2. 70
Kittie still spew the alternately golden-throated and throat-shredding thrash of their 2000 debut, Spit. [Dec 2001, p.154]
  3. A much more brutal and vicious record than its predecessor.
  4. Kittie sound like they want to pursue harder extremes but can't decide whether to snicker or snarl, to play doomsayer or dominatrix.
  5. 40
There's nothing here that you couldn't hear blaring out of a thousand suburban garages on any Saturday night. [#4, p.118]
  6. Such one-dimensional plodders as Mouthful Of Poison and Pain are as uninspired as their titles. [#184, p.139]
  7. Too often, the follow-up to their 600,000-selling debut 'Spit', is plain overbearing, a violent marriage of melody and brutality that makes for a highly uneasy listen.

Kittie is unfortunately being viewed as a novelty band just based on their gender, birthplace, age, etc. And I guess that can be expected just by looking at these girls, but they kick the crap out of your eardrums from the opening song and I think kick the crap out of a lot of their male counterparts out there.
