There's also Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya and Pink on the Pattie LaBelle track "Little Marmalade," Bono and Gavin Friday singing "Children of the Revolution," and contributions from Fatboy Slim and Rufus Wainwright. And last, but not least, are the medleys sung by the cast members themselves... just try to imagine Nicole Kidman singing Madonna songs. But was it really necessary to include a cover of "Rhythm of the Night?" Expand

A difficult album to wrap your head around, but embraceable nonetheless. [18 May 2001, p.81]
  2. The only significant problem with Kidman and McGregor's numbers, which constitute half of this 15-track set, is that they don't work as well without the accompanying visuals.
  3. Between the songs sung by the cast and those by famous popsters, Music From Baz Luhrmann's Film "Moulin Rouge" has a split personality, but this purposefully assembled collection is more cohesive than you'd think -- and that's something that can't really be said for most modern film albums.

Really, it's not as bad as it sounds.
  5. This anachronistic pop mix is unpleasant, grating, annoying, and to be honest, seemingly pointless.
