Dessa has created a very mellow, dark, and vulnerable album. The best way to describe this album is "heavy." Her lyrics are about as good as they have ever been and she's left herself very open with her relationships. Her voice and accompanying instrumentals flow well together almost perfectly, with Dessa bouncing between both her distinctive rapping style and singing vocals. It's stylish, poppy and striking from songwriting to production. [Jul 2013, p.100]
  2. With her second proper full-length, Dessa has been cemented as one of the most important voices in not only hip-hop but all music today.

Dessa's hyper-aware of her limitations, frolicking safely within the confines of her range, yet she delivers her best, most confident vocals on "Fighting Fish" and "The Lamb," both equal parts rap and singing.
